VP Pump Construction & Operation

The materials used for the construction of the VP range of pumps have been selected for the harsh working environment in which they are working in. Potential high temperatures, aggressive media and suspended particles dictated Stainless steel, PEEK, GRE, PTFE, Acetyl, and PVDF were the chosen materials

Pump Operation Cycle:

Liquid enters the pump via the strainer (11) and inlet check valve (10).
· Air trapped within the pump escapes through the air exhaust (3).
· The float (7) rises as the liquid enters.
· The float (7) rises to the top of its travel (5), tripping the rocker mechanism (4)
· The exhaust valve (3) closes.
· The air inlet valve (2) opens allowing compressed air into the pump.
· Compressed air closes the bottom check valve (10).
· Liquid within the pump is expelled from the pump through the discharge port (9) and up the central discharge tube.
· Liquid passes the top check valve (1)
· Float descends as liquid is expelled.
· Float pulls the rocker mechanism back when the spring (8) is compressed.
· The air inlet closes, air exhaust opens.
· Compressed air within the pump can now escape to atmosphere via the exhaust valve (3).
· The cycle is repetitive.

The pumping rate is dependent on a number of factors including:-

The depth of liquid in the well.

Liquid recharge rate in the well, i.e. if the well recharges at a rate of 100 litres/hour, the pump is limited to discharging at 100litres/hour.

The system air pressure.

The system pressure differential i.e. the difference between the actual system air pressure and the losses incurred due to total static head plus frictional loss.
