UK receiving water companies generally require that dissolved methane in leachates be no more than 0.14mg/l, which is a factor of safety of 10 below the lower explosive limit. Normal methanogenic leachates typically contain 5 to 15mg/l and so there is a requirement to strip out the dissolved methane for safe sewer discharge.

Viridian Systems offer bespoke Methane Stripping Plants (MSP’s) to enable safe discharge to sewer. We design and build MSP’s in-house to suit the application.

Highly efficient methane stripping is achieved through fine bubble aeration diffusers. This type of aeration is exceptionally energy efficient and can reduce the effects of carbonate scaling
